When you’re a new mom, you don’t know what’s right. You don’t know if you’re doing it incorrectly.
I am lucky to have two amazing little ones who are transforming into big little people more and more every single day.
“When Luna is awake, I want her to sleep and when she is asleep, I want her awake. This is my parenting life.”
Luna’s bringing out so much of my personality that I was too anxious to share in the outside world before. Now I get to be goofy and silly.
“One thing I have gotten very good at is knowing every single moment they want you to pause and pay attention to them is very important to them so you just gotta make it a moment because it’s just a moment but it’s THEIR MOMENT, you know?”
Most of parenting is really funny and silly and annoying and insufferable, and it’s fun to be able to share those moments together.
“You just have to be on the same page all the time, because it’s not fair when there’s one bad person [or] a bad guy. No one wants to be the bad guy, so it’s helpful when you’re all the bad guy. It’s important to be on the same page.”
Some people are baby people, some, toddlers. I am a happy toddler mom.
“Miles is a clone of John in so many ways. He literally has his personality type and face....Even when Miles is sick and has a running nose and isn’t feeling good, he still smiles and is so happy, just like John.”
It’s a big show, but it’s fun because they’re both a little kooky. I like the chaos.
You have to raise them to be feminists. That is our future.
“They bring so much light and joy to our house. I can’t imagine a life [without my children] — I just cannot.”
I have the utmost respect for mothers and single mothers who go to work and come home and make dinner. I do all of these because I have help.
I think every parent is realizing how hard it is to be a teacher.
