Summer is officially upon us and, a a moms, you have a lot more on your plate than in the colder months. Along with the warmer weather comes long days spent in the sun, which leads to sun burns, swim suit rashes, bug bites, and all of the quintessential summertime ailments. (Seriously. According to the Skin Cancer Foundation, children under the age of 10 are at high risk for skin and eye damage due to UV rays. Not only is there skin more delicate, but "the lens of a child's eye is clear, allowing greater solar penetration and thus greater UVR-induced ocular changes." Knowing all this, it's easy to fall into a panic about whether or not your baby's shades are safe. When searching for shades, the SCF says you should look for ones that block 99 to 100 percent of UVA and UVB rays.
