They're fun. They're discreet. They're sexy. Cute foot tattoos are trending hard right now, and I'm not mad about it. After all, there's something super cool about adorning your feet with some fabulous ink. Only select people are privy to your footsie ink, which is great if you work in a super corporate environment or are trying to keep you ink under wraps. I, personally, eschew work that doesn't appreciate a good flip-flop, but that's just me.
And it's not just a trend for mere mortals. Celebs like Jennifer Aniston, Nicole Richie, and Rihanna have inked their feet. (Seriously, have you seen the rosary tat that encircles Richie's ankle and lies on her foot? Quite possibly one of my fave celeb tats ever.) But before you commit to inking your foot, there are a couple disadvantages for people who want to follow this on-trend tat. The blog Rattodo reported that, "the rubbing of the shoes could wipe off ink, so if you wish to keep your tattoo for a long time, avoid tattooing the sole and edges." And according to Dr. Oz's blog, there are over 7,000 nerve endings on each foot, so expect for a foot tattoo to sting a bit. But, like the saying goes: no pain, no gain. If you're looking to add a little ink to your step, consider one of these cute foot tattoos from A-listers and average human beings as inspiration.
1Friendship Foot Tattoos
BFFs love inside jokes. These two ladies got matching foot tats of hot dogs that say, "Hiya, Buddy." (An obscure reference to The Office.) But really, who needs to explain a talking hotdog? These two besties are total sole mates.
2Inspirational Foot Tattoos

"Dance is a part of me. A part of who I am It has entered my life and taken over my body, captioned Instagram user Casey_Brianna. "It is in my walk, my movements, and my thoughts." Now a nursing student, this gal's foot tat "... 5, 6, 7, 8" reminds her that she's a dancer with every step she takes.
3Dainty Foot Tattoos
I swoon over Nicole Richie's rosaries foot tattoo. In fact, it might just be my next. The dainty detailing makes this ink look like jewelry. Adore!
4Floral Foot Tattoos
Flower tattoos look amazing anywhere on the body, but I especially love how these cherry blossoms look on the foot. It keeps spring in season all year round, and serves as a perfect reminder of what's to come when you're knee-deep in snow.
5Empowering Foot Tattoos
Can you see the falcon on Rihanna's foot? It's a cover up of the musical notes she once had. Not to mention the meaning behind it is beautiful. In 2012, she shared a picture of the ink on twitter with the caption “Falcon: a light that shines in the darkness! Never close their eyes during sleep.”
6Fruity Foot Tattoos
Don't these strawberries look good enough to eat?
7Feathered Foot Tattoos

Peekaboo! A peacock feather on your foot is a an extraordinary way to show your fashion flair... even if you (and a select few) can appreciate the artistry on your foot—that is until summer!
8Whimsical Foot Tattoos
I have a soft spot for butterfly tattoos, and the foot is such a perfect landing spot for this winged friend.
9 Seeing Stars Foot Tattoos
Never forget to dream. These stars offer a good reminder to stargaze.
10Free-Spirited Foot Tattoos
Although the message behind this tat is very namaste, this Instagram user told me she walked around barefoot for two weeks so that the tattoos would heal without shoes messing them up. That's dedication!
11Kitten Foot Tattoos
Nothing says cute more that kittens. And the detailing on these kitties makes me want to reach out and pet her feet. (I dig the camel too.)
