7 Creative Date Night Looks For Every Occasion That Won't Break The Bank

by Sarah Bunton

Whether it’s your first date with a person or there have been so many that you and your partner have lost count, finding a date night outfit for any occasion can prove to be pretty difficult. A lot goes into picking out an outfit, actually. What’s the weather like? How far away are you going? Will you be doing any activities? Is there a lot of walking involved? These are all questions I know have gone through my head when getting ready. From adventurous walks in nature to the traditional dinner-and-a-movie, there are all kinds of different date night ideas that you may have to dress for.

Before you get overwhelmed with all the options, remember that there are plenty of simple hacks to get ready. The best thing you can do, for any occasion, is be prepared. Don’t worry; I’m not suggesting you go out and buy a whole new wardrobe just to make sure you’ve got all your bases covered.

In fact, you probably already have some great pieces in your closet that you just need to see in a new light. And you don’t need to be a fashion expert or have a team of stylists, either. Check out these date night outfits that will have you looking and feeling confident no matter what the evening has in store.

1Mini Road Trip

You want to look cute, but also be comfortable for a ride in the car. Opting for a loos dress, like this vintage dress ($90) from Modcloth, will allow you to take in the sights without fidgeting in your seat.

2Laser Tag

You want to be sporty and stylish when it comes to dates that involve physical activity (and not the type you're probably thinking of.) Something breathable, like these tulip-style shorts ($16) and breathable mesh top ($15) from Forever 21, would be perfect. Bring a pair of cute leggings and flats to slip into after.

3Clubbing

Do people still say "clubbing?" I'm not sure. One thing I am sure of, though, is that nothing gets you out of a date night rut like getting on the dance floor. Wear something that shows off your body, like this faux leather dress ($65) from Torrid, to inspire a little dirty dancing.

4Walk On The Beach

It may sound cliche, but sometimes the cheesy "romantic walk on the beach" line really works. Embrace your carefree and spontaneous side with a flowing maxi dress, like this one from Volcom ($18). Pair with a cardigan incase it gets chilly.

5Concert

Unless you're going to a orchestra performance, feel free to get a little grungy. Something simple, like these tartan leggings ($31), casual gray tee ($23), and retro wash denim shirt ($38) from ASOS, would be perfect to wear when you'll be rocking out all night.

6Gallery Hopping

Let your inner artist come out to play when you and your partner explore the finer things your city has to offer. A boho hat ($11), classic button down ($34) and cardigan ($15), to the sleek pants ($40), will ensure a strong, sophisticated style game.

7Movie Night

Let's be honest: sometimes nothing beats staying in for the night, cuddling up on the couch, and watching movies in your super comfy PJs ($40). Who knows? Maybe movie night will turn into Netflix and chill.
