Here's How Katherine Heigl & Josh Kelley Met
So here's a depressing as well as inspiring piece of information, depending on your perspective: even Katherine Heigl had relationship doubts with Josh Kelley. Sure, the former Grey's Anatomy beauty has things well-sorted these days; she and husband Josh Kelley just welcomed their scrumptious baby boy, who is their third child together, in January. They look happy and beautiful and sort of perfect. But this was not always so, let me tell you. If you're wondering how Katherine Heigl and Josh Kelley met, it turns out the two struggled to find the right groove with each other in the beginning. Because commitment is hard, even when you're a famous and awesome person.
The couple actually first met when she played singer Kelley's love interest in the music video for his song "Only You" in 2005. Heigl told Meredith Viera during an interview that she met and started "hanging out" with singer John Mayer around the same time, though she swore it was platonic. Despite the fact that she and Kelley were getting closer, she told Viera he was "playing hard to get." So she decided to... well, make him jealous is really the only way to put it.
These musicians, they are competitive and jealous of each other. [So] over the phone, because he was on tour, I was like, 'Josh, I've got to be honest. I just want to know where we stand because if not, I might try to pursue something with John.'
Long story short, the couple were married in 2009. Kelley wrote an acoustic guitar song for Heigl's walk down the aisle, and had this to say to People about marrying Heigl:
It’s about showing someone you love that you’re actually capable of the ultimate commitment. We’re madly in love and she makes me excited to become married and to have a family and spend my life with someone. We’re fairly opposite but we also share a lot of the same values.
The couple went on to adopt two little girls, Naleigh, who is 7, from South Korea in 2009, and Adelaide, who is 4, domestically in 2013.
Heigl announced her impending pregnancy in June 2016, with a statement released to People:
The Kelley clan is thrilled to announce that we are expecting a third addition to our family. Naleigh and Adalaide could not be more excited to welcome their new sibling into the fold and Josh and I are overflowing with joy and gratitude.
Now the family of four has welcomed baby Joshua Bishop, born Dec. 20, 2016.
On top of their successful family collaborations, Heigl recently directed Kelley's sexy video for his song "It's Your Move." So what's the moral of the story here?
I can't be sure, but maybe it's use John Mayer to make your boyfriend jealous and then your life will be amazing? I hope so.
