It seems there's a new couple ready to Flip or Flop for HGTV, this time in Atlanta. In the wake of a year of scandal and divorce surrounding the original Flip or Flop couple, Tarek and Christina El Moussa, fans could potentially be ready for some new blood. (But, like, in a really nice way.) The latest couple to try their hand at flipping and flopping (this time, as mentioned, in Atlanta) are Ken and Anita Corsini, who met many years ago and seem totally up for the challenge.
According to HGTV, Ken Corsini (who you should know is incredibly tall) met his future bride Anita in college. The two attended the University of Georgia, where Anita was in a study group with Ken's roommate in their junior year. He was apparently a smitten kitten from the outset:
When Anita would call our apartment to talk to my roommate, I was diligent in making sure I picked up the phone first, so I could get a few minutes of "phone flirting" in before passing the phone over to my roommate. Keep in mind we’re old. This is before college kids had cell phones.
It took some convincing on Ken's part, particularly since Anita herself admitted she was something of a picky dater, but eventually the love bug bit her, too. Their first date? Brace yourselves for the cutest thing ever guys, because they went strawberry picking.
Anita told HGTV:
I kind of knew exactly what I wanted in a guy, but couldn’t always find a complete package. Enter: Ken. He, of course, is tall, dark and handsome, but he was also very funny, knew how to have a good time and shared my values. Winner, winner, chicken dinner.
Therefore she baked him a strawberry shortcake that first night to seal the deal, as you do.
The couple went on to get married and have been for a whopping 17 years. They had three kids and a started a real estate business together, Red Barn Homes, in Atlanta. And now, Ken and Anita are about to become familiar fixtures in the homes of HGTV fans across the country (so, basically everyone). Better yet, their new show, Flip or Flop Atlanta, will find them flipping some seriously weird and disturbing places (I don't want to give too much away so I will leave you with this... mannequin heads. A giant stuffed Canadian goose).
Flip or Flop Atlanta premieres on July 20 on HGTV. The pair are expected to add a serious dose of Southern charm to some seriously terrible fixer-uppers. And to think, it all started with a little strawberry picking... sigh.
