It feels like July just got here, but I am eagerly counting down the days until July 31 so I can finally get my mitts on a copy of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Obviously, every Harry Potter fan is feeling the same — trying to figure out how to buy Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and how to get someone to watch the kids so you can read in peace.
I don't know how easy that latter part of your plan is going to be, but buying the eighth story in the Harry Potter series isn't too difficult. If you don't want the hassle of fighting lines or crowds on July 31, you can go ahead and pre-order the book now at any print retailer including Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Target, and Wal-Mart. If you want a digital copy of the book, you can also pre-order at Amazon, iTunes, and Barnes & Noble if your device is a NOOK.
But, if you want to head to your favorite brick and mortar store, feel free to grab some floo powder on July 31 (Just be sure to say the name of the store loud and clear, OK?). According to Pottermore, all editions of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, both digital and print, will publish at 12:01 a.m. BST on July 31, which means by the time you head to your favorite store on Harry Potter's birthday, the book will be ready for purchase. If you're feeling particularly nostalgic (and excited), some stores, like Barnes & Noble, are even hosting midnight release parties starting at 8:00 p.m. on July 30.
Whether you take a ride on your broomstick to the store or wait for the book to hit your electronic device at 12:01 a.m., just know that buying a copy of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is easier than saying "Accio, masterpiece!"
