Here's How To Stream FOX's 'A Christmas Story Live!'
The movement to turn musicals and movies into live productions that air on TV continues with A Christmas Story Live! The three-hour production airs Sunday, Dec. 17 at 7 p.m. EST on FOX, but if you can't get yourself in front of a TV screen at that time, you'll need to know how to stream FOX's A Christmas Story Live! Thankfully, there are a couple of options.
The first is to watch the production on FOX.com, which has a live TV stream available for viewers. However, you may need a cable log in to get access to the live stream, though the site will probably have the complete special up, in full, the following day. You can also stream the live show on fuboTV, which has a free trial if you don't already have a subscription. These seem to be the only two ways you can live stream the event. That being said, if you're cool with waiting until the next day to watch it, Hulu is known to post various FOX programs on its streaming platform shortly after they debut, so you can most likely find it there. It won't be quite the same as watching it live, but you'll still be able to enjoy all the fun.
No matter how you watch, this is definitely a live event you don't want to miss. Tony and Oscar Award winners Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (best known for their work in Dear Evan Hansen and La La Land) are bringing the stage production of this holiday classic to TV. They also created several new original songs for this iteration as well. The cast is phenomenal and stars Maya Rudolph as Ralphie's mother and two-time Tony winner Matthew Broderick as the narrator. Other A-list cast members include Jane Krakowski, Chris Diamantopoulos, Ken Jeong, Alan Grier, and Ana Gasteyer. Playing Ralphie is newcomer Andy Walken.
Although the production will probably fill many people with '80s nostalgia because the movie was first released in 1983, the story itself actually takes place in the 1940s. The film and musical follow Ralphie, who attempts to convince his parents, teacher, and Santa that he should get a Red Ryder B.B. gun for Christmas, even though they all believe it's too dangerous for him.
A Christmas Story Live! will probably have some differences from the original movie, but that's to be expected. However, the main premise of the story as well as the movie's iconic moments will still be a big part of the live production. For example, based on the promotional photos, it's easy to see that the iconic leg lamp will be featured. And surely there will also be the moment when Ralphie's friend's tongue gets stuck to the frozen pole as well.
Although there's been some hits and misses with live TV productions over the years, A Christmas Story Live! definitely seems to have all the fixings to be a success. The music will most likely be amazing and you can be sure there will be a soundtrack released along with the live show. The cast is also not only incredibly talented, but filled with hilarious actors who will bring the same level of laughs to the live show as the movie did.
Thus, A Christmas Story Live! is definitely not a show you want to miss. It's always fun to see these things happen live and discuss your favorite scenes and moments on social media. Besides, what better way to get into the holiday spirit than with A Christmas Story? Even if you've never seen the movie (although you certainly should), this will be great for all ages. Although it's definitely a comedy, it also has some heartwarming moments that will fill you with holiday cheer.
Then after you finish watching A Christmas Story Live! you can watch the movie, which will most likely be showing 24 hours straight on TBS on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, as it does every year.
A Christmas Story Live! airs on Sunday, Dec. 17 at 7 p.m. EST. Don't miss it!
