Is Kylie Jenner Having A Boy Or A Girl? She's Reportedly Due This Winter

by Margaret Wheeler Johnson

As the news broke Friday that second youngest Kardashian sister is expecting a child with her boyfriend, Travis Scott, fans naturally wanted to know, Is Kylie Jenner having a boy or a girl? TMZ first reported the pregnancy, the celebrity news outlet included the unconfirmed rumor that Scott has been telling friends that the couple is having a girl. However, other initial reports made no mention of the baby's sex.

Update: Kylie Jenner gave birth to a baby girl on Feb. 1, 2018. She named her daughter Stormi Webster.

Earlier: People quoted a source who stated that the pregnancy was "unexpected" for Jenner and Scott but that Jenner, 20, is "completely thrilled." Jenner is reportedly due in February, although neither she nor Scott, 25, have confirmed the news. Romper reached out to representatives for both Jenner and Scott but has not yet heard back.

If she is due in February, that means Jenner is at least five months along, so hopefully she's past any pregnancy nausea, as well as the anxiety of prenatal testing, the headaches, weird uterine twinges, crippling fatigue... all of the joys of the first trimester and can move on to enjoying being pregnant with her first child. Fortunately, two of her sisters, Kim and Kourtney, have been pregnant a total of at least five times, not to mention her mother, Kris Jenner, who has, count 'em, six children — so her youngest daughter has plenty of people to guide her through this.

Jenner and Scott are thought to have been dating since April, after Jenner broke things off with on-again-off-again boyfriend Tyga. Billboard reported that Jenner said that she broke up with Tyga, explaining on her show Life With the Kylie:

I decided that I’m really young. I don’t want to look back five years from now and feel like he took something from me when he’s really not that type of person.

According to Bustle, Jenner and Scott met through Jenner's sister Kendall, who was already friends with Scott. According to TMZ, Scott recently spoke to friends about how having a baby will change his life.

It will also, of course, mean a new addition to the Kardashian Klan, which is already chock full of grandchildren. As People notes, Jenner's sister Kim already has two children, a girl, North, 4, and a boy, Saint, who is 21 months old. She and her husband, Kanye West, are expecting their third child via surrogate in January, according to Glamour.

Jenner's sister Kourtney also has three children: a girl, Penelope, who is 5, and two boys — Mason, 7, and Reign, 2, all with her ex, Scott Disick. And the lone Kardashian son, Rob, has a daughter, 10-month-old Dream, with his ex Blac Chyna.

So to add it up, the Kardashian grandchildren currently include three girls and three boys. It remains to be seen whether the new additions from Kim and now Kylie will keep that tally even, or whether there will be two more boys or girls in the Krew. There's of course no word yet on what Kylie and Scott are hoping for, or if the sex of their baby even matters to them (which it well may not). To focus on a baby's sex is of course to focus on the gender traditionally assigned to that sex, and given Jenner's father, Caitlyn Jenner's 2015 transition, the Kardashians are more sensitive than most to the experiences of people forced to grow up misgendered.

Either way, it's too bad the Kardashians no longer do their famous Christmas card. Fourteen months from now, there would be even more people to position in striking poses in a dramatic setting and wardrobe theme of Kris Jenner's choosing. Who doesn't love seeing babies in lamé?
