Adding one more member to their happy family, Jill Duggar has reportedly welcomed her second child, a baby boy, with her husband, Derick Dillard. According to an announcement on their website, the 26-year-old mom of two gave birth on Saturday afternoon after a many hours of labor, with their new son arriving just after 1 p.m.
"We are excited to finally announce the arrival of Samuel Scott Dillard!" they wrote on their family blog. "The newest addition to our family arrived on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 1:02pm. He weighs 9lb 10oz and is 22" long. After 40 [hours] of labor, he was delivered via C-section at the hospital. Thank you for your continued prayers and support!"
Their newborn now makes to the couple's 2-year-old son, Isreal, a big brother — a role he was very excited to take on.
During an interview with TLC last December, the parents — who tied the knot in June 2014, according to Us Weekly — announced they were expecting another child and said that their toddler was very happy about the news, even though there were some things he'd have to get used to.
"Israel is going to be a great big brother, he already loves other little babies," the Counting On star told TLC at the time. "The only thing I think he'll have to work on is just learning that babies that are smaller than you, you have to be more gentle with.
"I think Israel is going to be a fantastic big brother," the proud dad added during the same interview.
While Duggar was in labor this time around for nearly two days, it was much easier than her first time giving birth. According to People, Duggar was in labor with Israel for close to 70 hours "with intermittent contractions that sometimes were right on top of one another, within a minute apart."
The new mom spoke with People again during her second trimester with baby Samuel and admitted that this pregnancy was not nearly as stressful as her first one.
“There’s a level of ease that comes with your second pregnancy,” she told People in February. “Derick and I have been down this road together, so we’re comfortable. I’m just going to see how it goes, try to be healthy and prepare as much as I can. But this time I know that labor is unpredictable.”
Although the latest season of Counting On is already underway, it's possible that baby Samuel may make his debut in some of the later episodes. Until then, fans can keep up with the Dillards and their latest addition by reading through their family blog or just by visiting their social media feeds.
