Here's When Joseph & Kendra Duggar *Could* Welcome Their First Child
There are 19 kids (and counting) in the Duggar family — and there are about to be even more grandchildren (eventually). Cameras have documented the growth of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar's family on TLC's 19 Kids and Counting and follow-up series, Counting On. And on Monday, it was announced that the family would grow by one more now that son Joseph Duggar and wife Kendra are expecting their first child together. But the news of when exactly Kenda Duggar is due was not included in that announcement.
Joseph and Kendra gave Us Weekly all of the exciting details about their pregnancy (except the due date), telling the magazine, together:
During the season that we are celebrating the birth of Christ, we are so excited to share with you that we are expecting the gift of a child ourselves! Wow, it's so exciting!! We've both always loved children and seen them as a real blessing from God. It's so surreal to think of being parents and having our own little one. We cannot wait to see this baby!
The new couple, who got married in September, shared a video message to fans on TLC's YouTube page, where they talked more about the pregnancy. In the video, Kendra said that she hoped the baby would be a girl (although Joseph is more partial to having a boy). But unfortunately, their due date was not announced in that video (similar to Joseph's pregnant sister, Joy-Anna) therefore the due date isn't entirely known, yet. But given the year written on their super adorable mugs in their pregnancy announcement photo shoot, the baby will be arriving in the new year.
The couple did spend their honeymoon in Greece in October, according to Us Weekly. And earlier this month, fans were speculating whether or not Kendra could be pregnant, according to In Touch Weekly, because both Joseph and Kendra had been silent since returning from their honeymoon.
Given the timing of their announcement, Kendra could be just out of her first trimester. And if this is right, the baby could possibly be due around June 2018. Typically most women who are pregnant wait until after the first trimester is done to announce their very exciting news. This is because, according to BabyCenter, the risk of a miscarriage is typically higher during the first trimester and some doctors will advise their patients to not announce it until the first trimester is over. However, some women have started announcing that they are expecting early on, during the first trimester, according to TODAY, because they can't handle the excitement. But waiting until the 12-week mark isn't entirely common amongst all Duggar women. According to FitPregnancy, Joseph's sister, Jill Dillard, announced that she was expecting her first child just before the 12-week mark.
But just because fans don't know the due date of the baby doesn't make the news any less exciting. Kendra's pregnancy makes for the second Duggar grandbaby arriving in 2018 (that fans know of) — talk about counting on more kids. And Joseph's family members, like Jill's husband, Derick Dillard, have already congratulated Joseph and Kendra on the very exciting news.
Kendra's due date could very well be announced, or be more clear, when Counting On returns for a new (and much anticipated) season in the new year. And 2017 was super eventful for the couple, who got engaged, married, and announced they were expecting their first child all in one year. But it is pretty much guaranteed that 2018 will be even more exciting, especially since their baby will be born in the new year. Although it is unclear when the baby will be born in 2018, it is almost guaranteed that Joseph and Kendra will announce (or even document on Counting On) the baby's arrival when it happens.
